The GCC cosmetics market was worth around USD 9.0 billion in 2025 and is forecast to reach USD 15.1 billion by 2034. In Saudi Arabia, specialty retailers still held more than half of beauty and personal care sales in 2025, which means the majority of the money still crosses a physical fixture that somebody has to maintain. Most brands assume that fixture is broadly correct. Audit data says display compliance averages far lower than marketers believe, and drifts further every week it is left alone. This free 10 page eBook sets out the benchmarks, the six standards we build into a beauty visit checklist, how to match visit frequency to store format, and the eight numbers worth reporting every month.

Frequently asked questions

What is a realistic planogram compliance rate?

Industry benchmarks commonly cite an average around 60 percent, and a Shop! Association study found that while marketers assumed display compliance close to 70 percent, measured compliance averaged no higher than 40 percent. Your own trend over time matters more than any industry average.

How often does a beauty shelf need to be checked?

It depends on the format. Dedicated brand stores tend to need a quarterly deep set, shop in shop and pharmacy doors every two months, hypermarket and kiosk locations monthly. Flat frequency across a whole network wastes money on weak doors and under serves strong ones.

What height should hero products sit at?

Top selling and hero SKUs should sit between 1.2 and 1.7 metres from the floor, checked against the approved success picture. Hero displacement is the most commercially damaging compliance failure in beauty retail.

Is stock replenishment part of a visual merchandising scope?

Usually not. In most beauty operations replenishment sits with the Beauty Advisor or the retailer, while the merchandising partner owns brand presentation, planogram compliance, fixture condition and campaign execution. Keeping the two separate protects accountability and cost per visit.
